Hydraulic top link

For value for money I can't fault the Vapormatic one I have. Cat 3 so it's quite heavy . You'll have to work out the closed and extended length of ram you require, and the category and type of ends. .

If you have buttons on the wings for a spool, or a lever/ linkage to a mechanical spool for external control then go for a closed Ball end on the rod. It’s lighter/safer to handle and stronger. Don’t go crazy on the rod/bore size as it gets too heavy. 40mm rod and 80mm Bore seems ok on 150 hp and prob a bit more. 100mm bore is heavy and clumsy to handle. The 80-90 mm will still be fit to suck in quite big implements. I have a few granit ones sold and seem good for the money.

What’s the best or very reliable hydraulic top link out there? To be used on moco, bale handlers etc
We've had "universal" and tractor manufacturers "own" links for over two decades and they all have worked well and never broken down. Maybe just don't buy the cheapest from eBay.

We got a 9 ton one from Spaldings in 2003 for a Kuhn mower. They have screw in ends so if you do need a different size end or snap and end off you can just buy a new one. It's lasted us well and it does everything including ploughing with a 5 furrow and a Horsch joker with a TG bar witch aren't light but it is a bit of a triggers broom.

I have two from Spaldings and both been very good. Only thing I’ve had to do is put a spot weld on the tractor screw end. Otherwise when on the plough it can work loose then spin and damage the pipes. Wouldn’t be without them now though!

We have never had a problem with them spinning but on ours the ends are threaded the same way. Yes the threaded enda are possibly not as strong but it is usually the end that snaps off not the thread You can also swap the tractor end if you change tractors for a different make.
