Hydraulics and suppliers.

I have a 360 machine and have been slowly acquiring attachments for it as this usually makes my life easier.
I have been putting together a timber grapple package and have now completed the 'metalwork' side with the rotator, grapple and quick-hitch to fit to the machine.
Having a window of opportunity to get this job finished I started ordering the hydraulic parts to power the grapple and rotator, i.e, things like three-way diverter valves, some flat-face quick couplings and other small BSP parts. This was Thursday last.
First hiccough came with the diverter valves. Out of the seven companies I contacted only one had the items in stock. When I asked what was happening their reply was that these were made in Italy and the Italians were on holiday until October....How about keeping a 'stock? I asked......Mmmmm was the reply!

The company who did have them in stock sent a pair of very similar looking valves, all shiny and new, but failed to look at the part numbers before dispatching and I ended up with one correct unit and one which was no use to me. Their courier was quick and I hope to have the other tomorrow.......

One of the other companies had some of the parts but not others so ordered all the from the main manufacturer who passed a message on that all the items were 'in stock' and would be with me on Friday as requested. No show! I chased them up today and the reply was that they had been sent to the company who had ordered them on my behalf and who also had not received them either......I am promised them tomorrow, Thursday.....

My window of opportunity is fading fast as I have a job for the machine which will make good use of the grapple and I still don't have the parts in my hand......My haulier can move the machine on Sunday to its new job where I will probably have to do the work with slings.

I'm not very impressed with these so-called hydraulic 'specialists'!:( Not forgetting the time spent on the 'phone (considerable) either, trying to sort it all out!
