Another update - some delicious foods now taste like sh!t? What the heck is all that about?

Of course, I've googled it - damage to the nerves leading to the taste buds is common following this op. This means, horrifyingly, that my little treat of blacksticks blue, bruschetta and gherkins tastes revolting rather than wonderful. I dearly hope this is rectified in good time :(

Even fresh pineapple chunks taste awful - this is the end of the world as we know it

I have tonsil issues. Generally I am having fewer episodes as I get older. My one tip is daily gargling of strong mouth wash which definitely helps. After a bad attack my sense of taste goes bad but always recovers. A friend of my OHs is an ENT surgeon who was very anti me having it done so it put me off rather.

Glad I didn't have 'em removed now!

Im is usually viral but I cant walk for 2 days, feel close to death. Last year had the worst bout ever. Out of action for 1 week. Not sure whether thinking of actioning it but see you can have lazer treatment in London at a pretty reasonable cost. In and out in one day. Recovery very quick.

I was in and out in the day.

I am back at work properly, today. Still sore but perfectly manageable. Last week was pretty awful but I did still manage to come down and load wagons.

It just makes you feel bloody lousy (n)

It rarely stopped me going to work but it was painful and very distracting - not ideal when loading machinery. Today's procedure was the right way to go, I reckon.

It revealed another problem, though - high blood pressure
I realise that this thread is from a few weeks back but ...

I had been on tablets for high blood pressure before my op but while under general anaesthetic my blood pressure dropped through the floor. Was sorted within 12 hours but never needed to take tablet since!

Had my prostate zapped by laser, twice. Brilliant way to get surgery. I was No. 35 in the country the first time but they got some measurements wrong, so had to do a repeat three years later. The down side is, no samples for testing for cancer. No doubt a biopsy can be done some other way at the same time. But definitely the way to go as the laser seals as it cuts. Didn't know they did tonsils too.

So glad it is all behind you now...even if the gown wasn't!
