This joined the posse today.
priced my local dealer the other day but he couldnt come within an asses roar of the price i could get it for on the bay, £122 all in for the bare unit n posted for free.
i bought it for the smaller work as the bigger one is a bit cumbersome for that, only used it for a short while but its not shy by all accounts and i like how compact it is.

Have you the code name for the smaller impact? Have the larger one and as u say its too big and cumbersome for a lot of jobs. Hate the fact it only has two settings!

its a M18 FIWF 12 greenhorn.
its not a one key version which allows you to set the torque via the phone but that wasnt something i wanted on it neways and im not even sure if its available on this one as the price blinded me but id say it is.
it has four settings on it.
this is the crowd i purchased it from, details are in the description.

that company selling it on 3 diff places for 3 diff prices
quite a lot of business sellers do that, i mind a few years ago looking for an item that i had to ring about to make sure it was what i was after, i got the same lad three times from three different seller names, the third time i asked him what was the gig, he said it was like going fishing with one rod or three rods.....

postage to NI can vary a lot, iirc the one at 122 was as cheap as i could get it to here, if not then im not out too much.
Full review next week? :whistle::D
no bother at all, altho the little ive done with it so far ive been happy with it, its a handy size for the smaller bolts, i was tempted to stick a 27mm socket on it today but when its big brother was as close to hand i went for that.
ill give it a lay man test some of these days.(y)

like a lot of things i took a notion id like to be able to weld some plastic parts that come in broken or damaged, i seen that tool on my quest for something but iirc its dear for its size but i might be wrong, its 12 mths ago now.
i opted for a lcd leister heat gun instead with various welding heads to suit, they are dear too but i bided my time til i got one on the bay, never used but 3 yrs old, came in a case with two heads for £250 odd, iirc it's up on 600 quid new.
you can get a more basic model with no lcd temp screen for less but with plastic welding you really need to know what temperature its at as different plastics need different temps.
after that i just bought different types and flavors of rods which are cheap.

in saying all that, times ive just used the portable soldering gun with the wedge head on it with good results, your basically blending it in and then add little bits of rod to fill out.
if i was using the leister and had the space id run a kind of a fillet weld so to speak first to attach it and then use the gun but the soldering iron will let you away as well if you wanted to play about with it.
you need to know the plastic your about to weld tho and times that can be secret squirrel stuff but more times then not there is a code stamped somewhere to tell you what it is, i think its law for the purpose of recycling.
anything with glass fiber in it cant be welded however.

had a chainsaw in here a few weeks ago that had a limb fall on its handle, it broke it clean off on the top but the bottom foot stand was intact, welded it up with the right rod and its been 100% since.

the auto trade and expo show in city west towards the end of the year will have a few versions of plastic welding if your still interested by then, they did the last show anyways.

I got a bit upset yesterday, when I picked up a square that, well.....wasn’t! No good to anyone! Actually found two which were not true:rolleyes:
Flicking through MSC monthly offers paper and got this on order, 24” engineers square! A fair beast! And also replaced the smaller one that I found to be incorrect.

And also ordered this form another company, been wanting one of these for ages, but always felt it was a bit extravagant.
Anyway, I gave in to temptation and ordered it, along with the optional 600mm blade....and wow, it really is a thing of beauty :love:
Even comes with a card from the guy who checked it for quality and accuracy, not a printed thing, actually signed by the guy! A real quality item, made in the USA, it really is skookum as frig!

I’ve put it back in the box and hidden it way! Don’t want anyone else getting their grubby mits on it...:D
