I admit, I have a workshop tool addiction :-)

    Some good brand names there

  3. As you do! Me too, go to get something, buy something else as well.
I once went to buy shot gun cartridges to give the pigeons grief...ended up buying a new O/U trap gun for clay busting. Well there was £600 off retail and I must get my eye in for clean humane kills...well that's what I told the wife as I snuck in with a ABS case (timed that one wrong).

I've gone back to hand tools. I buy a power tool for a specific job... then another and when I'm finished they go in the shed and go rusty until I need them again. So the cycle continues.

It takes a few minutes longer but it's cheaper in the long run... and it's good exercise!

Nothing is a bargain unless you really need it... including women.

It's a Harrison 13" without the gap-bed and no metric change gear. It came from about 150 miles away so wasn't too bad - it just felt like it at the time.

  8. I'm trying hard to persuade myself not to buy this one:

I'll "need" my own lathe when we go south and I can no longer use my neighbour's engineering workshop :rolleyes:

Looks like a second generation L5 with change wheel screw cutting. Pretty good handy sized machine, right sort of money if all the gears are present, not much bed wear & clutch/brake are operational. I'd be wanting to put a quick change tool post on though 'cause I'm too lazy/impatient to be a proper machinist!

I was actually looking for an L5 or similar when my 13" came up at bargain money & I am glad it did as I have done work on it requiring the bigger diameter and the full 40" between centres!

Get it bought, it’ll be best/ most useful thing you’ll ever own. Doubt it will lose money at that price if you decided to sell it and get something bigger at a later date.

This was no question the best £500 I’ve ever spent!

It’s paid for its self a hundred times over, both in time saved and work done (y)
