I bought one for a chap here and I really like it. I have makita stuff and I'll be honest and say that with many of the tools I prefer the deWalt for feel, weight and some simple features that make them better.

Lads, I keep contemplating getting an electric induction heater in moments of weakness. Have any of you any experience of them? Are they worth the investment?

I can't justify £3k or I'd probably go for a Stanners i5 but the Sealey 2kW one looks interesting at £500.......

I bought one of these about 4 years ago, sure it was nearer 300 quid i paid for it. Not used it an excessive amount but it does give you a lot of flexibility, in particular it is handy for heating the inner race of a bearing prior to fitting without damaging the seals etc. Tried fitting a bearing without pre heating to compare (straw walker crank) and found it did make the difference.
The great thing is you can target the heat to a particular area, not saying you can't do same with a gas axe but in tight areas you are not risking setting things on fire.
It will get everything cherry red if you give it the run time, run cycles are max 2 minutes on the one i have.

The light is ace runs on 18v lxt batteries or 240 v and can be mounted on a stand or I have it fixed to my garage roof above my car when working on it, Has been super handy doing building work in houses ect and can be laid anywhere out side you need to light up
It would make a great laming light for the field or in a dark corner of a shed, you can never have enough torches or lights
when the battery runs out it has one led that runs for a bit to save you being in darkness, good idea that

Thanks. The one question I had that I forgot to ask was whether it had a neat way of stowing the 240v cable? Might get the snip (or modified to one of those hedge trimmer fly plugs) if not!

Cracking set of tools.
Out of interest, have you insured them?
If so, how?
BIL had his workshop ’visited’ over the holidays and was relieved of his tools, over 5k worth, but only had insurance for 2k on his policy, so not a happy chap.
My house insurance covers 5k for thefts from garage and outside buildings, but I need to check if the cover is valid for commercial as the outside shed is the farm workshop.

The cable wraps around the stand base, but has no plug to remove it from the light, it was £ 85.00, If you need super lighting there is another model of light the dml 811 or 809 cost £ 165 + with plug to remove cable and they are like light houses up to 10.000 lumens

I picked up one of the Lidl plasma cutters yesterday and had a little play with it this afternoon. A little bit disappointed as whenever I tried to cut anything much over 5mm it blew a fuse. I know I should probably have it plugged into a 16amp supply but don’t have one at the moment to just using a fly lead into the 13 amp supply.
