i would like to find a TVO baler engine to drive sawbench, and I will be surprised if it is running condition so anything considered
Side valve IH unit is best, nice and compact with pulley at right angles to the engine, so less room needed in front of saw. Avoid Wisconsin, uncles 701 had one, we used a Model "N" with a belt pulley as a starter, it was that bad! Also avoid the twin cyl Enfield diesel thats a poor starter too. ( I watched the bath house in the marine barracks in the Falklands burn down, while the detachment wore themselves out trying to start the Enfield powered fire pump!)I used a 701 when I was a boy and that had a Wisconsin V4 on sounded nice but a cow of a thing to start (wrist breaker)and it needed to be kept clean because it was a fire risk.
I was going to suggest a PH2... easy to work on & parts are still available. There's usually some on eBay.thanks for replies
yes I would like engine with bell housing and pulley to drive sawbench thanks to Fordson Farming for telling me about the Austin engine which would be ok but I will now add diesel engine from combine to the list and engine from blower or dryer or a Petter PH 2
