The University of Agriculture do some counting of earthworms on different farms and cultivation systems. It was 2018 during drough . We is DD with a ULD drill since 2013 . Now we get the numbers of how many eartworms we have an/ha and we have~ 2,25 million an ha on one field. It was the top record under this counting . We have no covercrops , just copped straw and Chaff. How many eartworms do you have?

How do they work that figure out? Just wondering as when I have been digging in my stubbles this winter with a spade nearly all the times I’ve dug in I’ve seen 2-3 worms in each spade full. Is this below average or above?

They dig 1m in square in 4 different spot on field ! Do not know how deep they dig!
In my neck of the woods average population is 100000 to1mil ! On non stock farms.
Im not sure how much you have , depends how deep you dig and how wide spade you have?

ok thanks for that, I haven’t properly been looking for worms but I may have to do some proper digs and counts.
