Have a lamb born last night. Got out this morning and Ravens had taken the majority of its tongue. Have had one in the past that survived, tubed it twice and it is trying to suck. What are its chances? Should I continue with the tubing or should I do the deed? It's a game wee thing and has plenty of gumption. Think I may have answered my own question!

Have you got a vegan animal sanctuary near you?

They could feed it up and enjoy being in synch with nature and meditate on the fellowship of all animals. Particularly ravens and lambs.

I tried last year with one, it wanted to live, but it had lost enough of it's tongue that it couldn't suck. I tubed it for a few days and tried to find a teat that would let it drink, but had to do the right thing in the end as it would have starved to death. Sometimes better to give them a quick end before you invest too much of yourself into them.

This year seagulls are worse than the crows, hang around and pick everything off a lamb, leaving just bones and skin. Hate the things.

It was dead this morning but at least it died in a warm bed with a full belly.
well done for trying (y) we all do, but it seems in this "modern age" that any such natural losses are made out too be our fault,....it isnt, its the fault of all the tree hugging bunny lovers that are so blinkered that they have legislated control of these and other voracious predators way above the needs of domestic livestock!....and yet they make out they are lovers of all gods creatures with their noahs ark ideaology🤦‍♂️ , ravens were on of the reasons i gave up outside lambing/sheep entirely, even had cowped ewes with their bellies pecked open by these feathered b%st*rds,as they always nest in the highest of trees,i still maintain ,the best method of control ,is a chainsaw,i have no time for gods right hand, big weed (trees)planting ideaologists!!!.........rant over😤

To be honest I think the worst part was that I had to lamb the ewe, nothing drastic just a leg back but fair chuffed that everything was okay and then to go back out and find the poor wee bugger pissing blood from his mouth was just a bit upsetting, he had already had a tough enough time being born and then to have come under attack in that way just makes me feel sick. The only consolation is the fact that he died warm and full after being cooried by my daughter. ...........I know I am too soft!
