I like Bacon & Sausages.....

Beer (or cider) is very useful for a gilt who is over anxious after her first litter. A few pints gentles them down for the first few hours, allows the piglets to suckle and get on their feet.
A pig who has had one too many apples is hilarious to watch - full control over their front legs while the back legs are doing a rumba.
@TripleSix - do the sows build huge nests like igloos?

Yeah they tend to build a pretty big nest out of bracken and rushes.

They even seem to prefer to pig outside in the snow rather than use the insulated huts

We have a few saddleback sows as Old Boar says, the lop ears make them quieter. We have a litter ready to go now as weaners so I was going to put them in the New Forest country ads as pannage season is about to start here. Our sausages disappear in no time, people who used to stay in our holiday cottage still drive out of their way to pick them up. The only snag I find is getting them butchered as I have to take them finished to Sherborne, which is 50 miles away, them go back for the meat,, and I'm not sure about the economics. Having said that, I haven't been food shopping at a supermarket since lockdown. :)
