Does the land/ ac you put down in this years IACS give you your entitlements for 2015 and the new SFP scheme (and how they will calculate your future payment)?

I heard its what you had on your 2013 form. They dont know them selves how its goin to be calculated. The idea just now is 1 rate for arable, temporary and permanent grass and another rate for rough grazings.

Your historic will be who claims this year surly and the new area will be based on who claims next year , they can't back date the new payment or it will continue ti be historic

Anybody got a link to the web page where you can write a comment on the new cap rules I think it ends soon
Is this the consultation you're meaning? Made a start at it- takes a while and needs a bit of thought to answer fully. Think they're tried to make user friendly but will probably put a lot of folk off replying unfortunately.

I got it through Scottish Government website and going into section entitled consultations. You can do a bit, save it and come back to it at a later date which as info is constantly changing is no bad thing.

Well it would make sense that what you claimed this year would be your payment this year. But just thought I heard it could be a year ahead. Though when have they ever done anything that makes sense!

Mr Lochead now is allegedly saying that the new payments could be gradually phased in till 2019. FFS.

We got a table made up from sac as part of a whole farm review, showing the three main scenarios the cap is likely to go. It made little difference money wise to us. As I said they dont know themselves.
An what good is phasing it in to a new entrant with no payment

That's how it will work here, I presume you are on full historic same as us, they will be no more after this year, you will receive a valuation added to your new area claim that will be phased on over a few years

There's a lot of folk woken up to the fact that they won't get what they've been in the way of getting in terms of SFP in the last month or so. Some will get a helluva lot less. Completely sympathise with genuine new entrants and hope that new measures being suggested are not abused by existing businesses just to take advantage of the grants etc being discussed otherwise the real new entrants will lose out. Seen it before with every son, daughter and wife suddenly becoming a farmer!!! Think some sort of phasing in will be necessary as too many businesses have too short a time to adjust and as the rules of the new system are still pretty much unknown that process of adjustment can't begin i.e we don't know if 2013,2014 or 2015 will be a reference if at all.

Still far too much unknown(s) and unfortunately can't see us knowing much more by 15th May this year when we submit this years SFP forms.

So do you not think a farmers son farming land without an sfp is classed as a new entrant?

Meant it in the context that businesses are artificially created to gain subsidy (the 90 head limit with cattle subsidy saw a lot of new businesses created up here). If a farmer's son has been farming land without SFP and running it as his business then that is different and deserves support.

The consultation takes a lot of reading. I hope we all fill it in to have our say no point moaning about the rules after there made when we had the chance to have a very small input

Good to see some folk are willing to take the time to complete the consultation. The consultations of ten years ago re: SFP/ National Reserve didn't gain many responses from individual farmers- a lot of farmers place their trust in SNFU to represent them with their submission. This is fine and will raise many of the valid points and concerns but is only one submission although the powers that be will realise that this represents most of the farming industry. That doesn't stop individual farmers submitting their opinions and the more opinions that come from the industry the better.

The consultation is cumbersome and will take a while but at least we have a chance to have our say and if there are enough responses may even help influence some of the decisions to be taken.
