You will hear it a lot but exercise helps. Swimming calms me down. Anything you can do to reduce stress will help. It won't be an instant result but you'll look back and see the small changes. I find writing lists helps deal with stress, checking items off is therapeutic. Also purging stuff in the house or outside helps, clears the mind and calms me. A good sort out of stuff is always a good way to spend the day.

Taken up Gardening find it really takes my mind away

Anxiety and stress seem to set me off rather than foods.

And me.

I worked for a large company straight after college, was not happy there. Five trips to the throne a day were common. I used to put it down to 'new food' a change in diet from home cooking to works canteen. Beer and a curry on a Thursday made this very much worse.

Even when I was at college, the first few days back there after a holiday, would cause a few more trips than usual.

Changed jobs, became much happier, suddenly the job stopped, went back to normal. It was just a shame that I endured 10 years of it!

Still now, if I am worried about something, or there is a big event coming up that causes worry, it sets off again. Even minor things, stuff that nowhere near keeps you awake at night.

It's largely ok now though. :)

My wife suffers terribly as well. Have to plan even the shortest trips and travelling can be a nightmare . She was diaganosed with a bacterial overgrowth called SBBO. Too much bad bacteria . We have to pay for probiotics called VSL . Which are millions of good bacteria ( don’t bother with the drinks advertised on tv).
She has also had ulcerative colitis .
At the moment she’s going through a good phase , so touch wood.
Message me if you ever want to chat to her .

SIBO and ulcerative colitis sounds a particularly unpleasant combination, she has my sympathy.

My partner has been diagnosed with SIBO too, and a few intolerances thrown in for good measure. Fortunately treatment and a restricted diet has transformed her issues, but she will never be cured as such. The changes have got rid of her IBS and her reflux is much improved, despite coming off omeprazole and gaviscon.

If your wife ever wants to compare notes with my better half, she is welcome to.

Mastic gum has shown to reduce the effects of SIBO. Read the reviews on amazon. Long term use of omeprazole just not good. No matter what I try I have issues which are very random so days when I eat well can have a sudden attack. I do think the obsession with fibre has a counter attack.
