iCloud help

So iMac, iPhone and iPad all linked. However loads of dulplicated photos on iCloud. So I spent an entire afternoon on the iMac going through the 16,000 photos removing all the duplicated ones and got it down to 10,000 on the first pass. Thought I’d do it again the next day but found everything I’d deleted had reappeared over night on the iMac.

What am I doing wrong because when you’ve selected a group of pics to delete you get a box saying ‘this will remove these picture from all devices’ to which you press ok and the pics vanish at that point.

It’s as if I can’t delete anything off iCloud for some reason?

Had this some years ago (spell check put that in as “tears” ago:cry:...which it was at time).

Basically it’s a synchronisation thing, and you just need to allow all devices to fully and completely sync up to iCloud. It can take a while, quite a few days, or even longer. They may appear synced, but there will be stuff still going on in the background.

Also I’d caution that all devices that are syncing are on the latest iOS and macOS versions, are setup identically in their iCloud sync settings and user names etc. and are all allowed to connect using a decent speed WiFI connection.

Good luck.

I’m not really a Mac man but it sounds as if you have a ‘hard’ copy on the Mac being displayed as well as the ‘soft’ copy from the cloud?

I don’t know but just an idea.

So if I turn iCloud off all three and manually delete off all three, when I turn it back on they should all then resync correctly and they will then update iCloud removing all the ones that have been removed from them?
