Get old lorry tyres and then bolt a plate to one side and seal with silicone so water tight.

Then you can move them from paddock to paddock by simply rolling them. Surprising how much water they hold.

For cattle an old tractor tyre is good as well.

If you are handy you can even add a float valve in them so it can be hooked up to a supply via a hose pipe.

I make water toughs out of empty 80kg crystalyx buckets.
Rivet the original lid back on minus maybe a third cut off.

Then set it in a appropriate sized tyre.

Front tyre off mf362 was perfect size but only had two.

a cut off 200l blue barrel works well. Run it with a ballcock on one side at the bottom and a rail or something around the top and bottom so you can wind the hose/pipe around them.

Tip and roll, or drag with a quad.

I don't know how suitable they would be for sheep, as the ones I used were for cows, and had a metal bar about 18" out from the barrel making the 'reel' bit, for sheep I suppose it would have to be smaller.

If you can use two people or a quad, what about a cut down IBC? can drain it using the valve, but it would be a lot of water in a small space when you emptied it.

all i use these days for drinkers - well sheep anyway are the galv 14litre ones -sheep dont like stale /dirty water smaller capacity the better even 14l is too much sometimes but anyway these are easy to carry/move and will take low or high pressure and i have one or to in temporary situations that are just placed on the ground.

Paxton's do a 19l free standing water trough which can be connected to a high or low pressure system.

Its plastic so light enough to carry, but very robust. About £65 each inc VAT from your local Paxton's supplier...

Something like this, maybe bit more expensive than your thinking but if your handy might not be that dear.

In my rotational grazing paddocks I have a 20mm pipe down the fence line with quick coupling valves every 50 metres depending on field width.
Just unplug and move the plastic water trough whenever sheep are moved.
Smaller troughs are better as you waste quite a lot of water tipping out a big trough every time you move it.

i use these. just drop on ground. couple of steel 'tent pegs' would stop them from being kicked around.
Small capacity, easy to move and carry and the float stops (hp) when its supposed to not like on the plastic tanks ......;)
