Ifor Williams tie down points?

I am borrowing a Ifor Williams 12x6 trailer to go and collect a buckrake next week

Can anyone tell me what tie down system IW use so that I can get the correct ratchet straps i.e lashing eyes of provision for hook ends ?

How old is the trailer?

Just put the normal hook straps to the trailer chassis
Just bring a few bits of cardboard box to pack under the straps where it goes over a edge

I'm the same moved tons of stuff roped onto hooks etc but in eyes of law hence why I said technically, straps are a big no no on rope hooks

How old is the trailer?

I have no idea, a friend has just offered me the use of his trailer.
I will probably swing by tomorrow and take a look just to be safe.

Back in the day we used to load 40ft flat bed trailers with fruit out of Southampton dock with just ropes and sheets.

I would just tie it on with rope, especially if you know how to do it. Strap to the chassis is what they want to see though.
A policeman stopped me a month or so back, I had 4 pallets of bottles on my trailer which were sheeted and roped. He commented how I had done a good job of securing them and they weren't going anywhere. Also everything in the deck of my truck was roped too which also impressed him so he just fined me £50 for having the wrong number plate on the trailer.

I too have roped and sheeted many lorry loads of fruit, mine were going in to Manchester and Liverpool.

Sadly roping and sheeting is a dying art. (Well maybe not especially on a rainy day.)

I think the fear is that attaching straps to rope hooks that the strap can exert too much pressure and tear it off.

When tieing something like this down always tie side to side, never across.
For something like a buckrake , ropes are perfectly good enough as long as it goes over no sharp edges and you can do a proper hitch

They have....the chassis is perfect for hooking straps on.

For me ratchet strap eyes on rope holds is the most horrible amateurish way of doing it. I'd sack my driver if he did it that way.
chassis is better but still a horrible way of doing it. You can't use the middle of the trailer for a start for fear of fouling the wheels. And kneeling in the mud to do it
