Ignoring members

I'm sorry. I have not the faintest idea what you are talking about. The thread I locked was as a direct result of a spat on another thread that had to be moderated
Ok but the direct result tread was running fine and how are we supposed to know that we take part in an interesting topic in one room and we get locked out because some of the contributors fell out in another

I think you've misunderstood. Thread A needed moderating. Thread B resulted only because someone was named in thread A and it was started by one of the aggrieved.. Before thread B (which was only started to carry on the argument from thread A) dived, it was locked

No your not unusual - very few members use the ignore function

Just a few that are that intolerant of others point of view it seems

Since no names need be mentioned, will you let us know how users many choose to ignore someone?

As I often state, my natural inclination is always to let things run on. The number of times folks complain that reports are not auctioned should reflect that

On that occasion I would say needed , yes

What criteria do you use and how much is personal discretion rather than cast iron rules?

I read the T&C's, I weigh the amount of comment, PMs to me and reports and I try to apply common sense and a gut feel. What would you do?

Trolling is but one example that we cite in our T & C’s that our members would not like to see permeate throughout the Forum - legal though it may be.
My misunderstanding, I was referring to 'genuine' posters and their content. Of course trolling that cannot be automatically prevented should be stopped by staff where possible.

But, I suppose, that raises the problem of where to draw the line when defining trolling. Some is obvious, but someone who just disagrees and provokes, seemingly endlessly, for fun could be very close to being a troll but still get the benefit if the doubt.

Hope the grass turning goes well

You’d be surprised at some. Get the odd snippet from elsewhere sent to me. Always a few surprises

Best just move along and try to keep a happy ship talking farming
