Illness and onwards

Evening guys, thought I'd change things up a bit.

As opposed to the doom and gloom of my illness thread, this will be a sort of work diary.

So, today was spent doing a dpf removal on a kubota engined Merlo. Clogged up to the back teeth and aiming to attempt it's 4th regen of the day.

Managed to remove the honeycomb, chisel out all its inards and refit the empty pipe, then remove the dpf coding from the ecu. Even reset some of the torque values and adjusted the timing map for some improved grunt.

After a couple of hours of faffing around, one super happy customer haring around in a more than capable merlo [emoji4]

I regularly read posts but don’t often comment however I just had to with this post. Have read your previous thread in the past and I have nothing but respect and admiration regarding the manner in which you approach each and every challenge you face.
I look forward to reading your new thread and the new challenges you encounter. All the best. ?

Evening gents [emoji4]

So managed most of the bits today.
Puma running without adblue, check.
Heated seat in a loader, check.
TM140 gearbox recalibrate? Check.
McConnell control box? In bits on the kitchen table [emoji23] but making my way through.

Tomorrow we have

Reversing camera on a lowloader trailer (wireless)
Remap on a fastrac (should be fun)
And inspecting a John Deere forestry machine, to see what can be done for AdBlue Delete and a bit more "gusto"

Had a brilliant chat with @ED.D today, top gent, and am looking forward to doing a few bits for some more of you guys too [emoji4]

Well, another day, another few completed jobs.

Finished the McConnell control box, and even managed a remap or 2,including the John Deere forestry machine. AdBlue removed, and a tweak as well. Owner very happy.

Tomorrow is a bit different, got another case puma 150 to do. The one from yesterday went on a dyno and was sat happily at 208hp, with everything running well under parameters.

Tomorrow's chap wants to retain the adblue (for whatever reason) but also has a 414s that he wants to push a bit harder.

Also on the agenda is a t5 110 for a push, and recalibration the cab suspension on a massey.

I got asked today about a load of the tuning companies that have recently started tuning tractors.

As far as I can see they seem to be doing a good job, pretty reliable, but at the same time, none of them seem to offer actual warranties, and (having done a few phonecall to ask for details) clearly didn't know anything about tractors [emoji23] one chap claimed to have been mapping them for the last 3 years, fine. When I asked him how it felt afterwards, and how the gearbox responded, his answer was "oh it was great, the usual really. Pulled well between 3-4th but didn't get to 5th." I asked what he meant by 5th and he said "you know, top gear obviously"

So all I'd say is if you guys are after remaps, try and do a bit of research on the guys you use. If they look like they just do cars, press them for specifics. I'm far from the be all and end all, but tractors, machinery and heavy engineering is my bag [emoji23] and if I can't answer, I will point you in the direction of someone who can.

Well, a dyno has been ordered. Rstherr than having to rely on borrowing someone else's, I've made the jump to order one.
Should be arriving next month, which will enable a lot more RnD to be carried out.

And, after a fair bit of faffing today, have managed to deal with an AdBlue setup that will turn off the injector and pump but retain heater element, so that AdBlue functionality can be switched on and off. Will it have a purpose? God knows [emoji23] but it's now been done [emoji23]

Will the adblue injector survive without being cooled by the adblue going through it?
Your threads are really interesting!

As of yet, I'm unsure. It will take a fair bit of research and testing. But we can but wait and find out. As it's a friend's machine, will obviously be covering the cost of the injector if it doesn't survive, but there may be ways round these things.

I'm glad it makes for good reading, if nothing else it's a great platform to drum up some business, chat to some great guys, and generally perk myself up when I'm feeling a bit shite [emoji23]

So, spent the day today with my handy helper assisting (my delightful daughter) who is rather spectacular on the spanners. At the age of 6, she can look at any bolt and immediately select the corresponding socket and is 99% of the time, correct. Quite inspiring really [emoji16]

Today's job has been fitting a wireless reversing camera and monitor to a Smyth 18ton tipper, used predominantly for shuttling woodchip. Worked a treat, and also fitted new Led light clusters, and strobes. Working perfect, and hopefully now no excuse for dinging the back end and smashing lights with the camera [emoji23]

Got another camera being fitted tomorrow to a side loader jcb, as the chap has a shoulder issue and finds turning his head to the right difficult, so rigging the display to a faux "rear view" mirror to allow a full side view of the machine

What make of wireless cameras do you use?

Could do with a few here.
Ebays finest [emoji23] all I can say is, they work. I've tried a few, the chinky ones are OK, can be a bit iffy without a spot on earth, but the ones I use I do for 50 quid fitted, and even managed to get one to work via a JD monitor too. Chappy was quoted 300 quid for the main dealer to do it, I think I charged 60 as it was a bit of a faff [emoji85]
