And the most ungrateful Aussies and Kiwis ............... after all Britain has done for them:banghead:
They will have a trade deal with the EU in jig time  :whistle::whistle:
If I was a gambling man I would lay a bet that we can get a trade deal with them before Europe 27 can

Staring blocks on same day.
Eurocrat says "Guten Morgen, I bring you 450 million consumers".
Toff from the foreign office says "I say, I say, I say, do be a good chap and trade with my 50 million consumers"!

Who does Aussie sit with first?

G'day mate!

But it doesn't happen like that does it,your Eurocrats go there and do a deal but then he has to get it passed by the other 27 where as when he talks to our people he knows what the deal is when it's finished, just look how well the Canada deal went. The Canadians thought they had a deal but o no wait someone said no so no deal

Walloons held it up for a few months. No more. Canadian deal is done and dusted at the political level. Technocrats now in the implementation phase.

First I am no expert on these matters. But Mr Gove said experts no longer mattered. So here goes.

I know we have to start somewhere. And not intending to denigrate our Australian cousins but to put trade deals into perspective the reality is the Aussies total just 25 million souls. Our EU neighbours 450 million without the UK. It will get better but without some sensible arrangements with EU27 I ponder that the UK trade minister is for a while going to look like a desperate man as he gets off the plane.

I am more than pleased to be corrected - as I am always saying I am in the back of the plane relying on the pilots. Just that I ponder 25 million Aussies 12,000 miles away versus 450 million a few miles away.

Hey ho.

Why not trade with the USA, there are more customers in California than the whole of Canada.

I assume we already do! And will. Mr Trump very kindly promised a very big, very powerful trade deal which I assumed heralded the possibility of increased trade. But a trade deal - well might depend on how vociferous the farm lobby is in Washington!? And how accommodating the UK government has to be. Domestic UK politics might or might not allow in chlorinated chicken, romensin beef ect. Be interesting to look back in four years to see what exactly did happen.
