Hi rjs15t yes have used one very good on grass it double digs the ground you get 2 types of blades rotorvatar type more common for incroparting straw after carrots and spade ones this is the one we used mainly for ripping up grass leys .
need quite a big tractor to lift as well as hold the machine back as rotor pushes you forward the coil roller at back makes a lovely job levelling and compacting the soil
well I think at least 200 hp depends on soil type and how deep you go they will go in about 2 feet . saw one today heading through keith on the back of a ford think it was Alan smart from the black isle
If it's an old grass ley I would prefer to rotovate it first and then spade. If it's a cover crop, rye grass or the like it would be fine straight into it. Imants do a special attachment as well to slice up grass.
The Imants (or indeed any rotary spader) certainly have their place in some situations. It has largely replace the plough as a main form of tillage on light land back in their home country, Holland. Some use it on the heavy land and some go back to ploughing. It's often seen as a step between ploughing and deep cultivation as it mixes the crop residue through the soil profile.
