I don’t have one, but imagine it’s much like a battery or mains drill. If you us it a lot a battery is likely the way to go, there is no hose to manage, no oiling required, it is a bit lighter, etc. But if you don’t use it regularly the batteries won’t appreciate it and you may fall out of love with it after a year.
So I personally think regular user, go for battery, irregular user go for air.

I would agree with that. Since I brought my cordless the air one hasn't been used at all.

so you got a milwaukee grease gun, just buy the high torque 1/2 impact from Milwaukee it will out perform most 1/2 drive air guns unless they are top spec ones

We just got a mid torque Milwaukee and its an amazing tool, though a bit pricey at the offset the nice thing with batteries is you can take it wherever i.e. out the yard and is good for difficult places. Even though its the mid torque its got plenty of power (Will easily shear 19mm bolts in 3rd power setting) and has lots of control with the 3 power modes

And go for the 3/4 drive Milwaukee you can never have to much power, and you can get a 3/4 to 1/2 inch adapter to cover all jobs.
and if he waited another few weeks he could go for a 1" drive cordless milwaukee,,,;)

to answer the op's original post,
i have both here, air and cordless.
tbh, the cordless Milwaukee retired the 2 air guns and they are top spec ones, its got to the point now a day that air lines and indeed power cords are just an inconvenience at this stage, they have got very good with the battery's (5Ah and above mind) so after having the above mentioned, the cordless wins hands down and that's in a workshop environment plus the fact of the bonus that its extremely portable..

however, be careful selecting your cordless impact gun, there are many different models to choose from so choose wisely.
the last 1/2 Milwaukee fuel impact gun i got which is the top spec one key hi torque cost me £350 in a sale and that was with 3 5Ah battery's so they can be bought right if you look about.

i only bought the cordless impact gun because i felt i was missing out on something seeing everyone else had one and i was shocked at how addicted ive got to it, like i say, it retired the air guns, even tho the money is steeper than the cordless is the way to go at this stage.
