Was looking at landrovers and got distracted then thought of this thread http://www.mod-sales.com/direct/vehicle/,26,/38544/Foden.htm

Oof!!!

Do you think she would turn back into 12 meter bouts?

As said, loose the hook gear. And then loose the rear axle, so it's a six wheeler with twin steer. That will save another couple of tonne and help with the turning circle.

Real potential in one of those I think. But I'd be more excited about a Scammel version, and if it had a Cummins 14l it would be a dream.....

There’s a hell of a lot of stuff there in that Oshkosh but whilst I’m not sure which model of Cummins engine that is, I’m certain it’s not got enough power. Maybe 150 hp

It would make a great base for something, only 3000 miles!!

Would it still be to heavy with all that removed? Atleast anyone with a hammer and a spanner set can fix it unlike a modern truck
Modern trucks don't really need much fixing. You are too young to remember, but you used to frequently see wagons lining the side of motorway whilst they were fixed or recovered These days the hard shoulders are empty and modern wagons are only usually seen to be broken when their tyres give up.

I would think the 150hp is a typing error. I have only ever seen Oshkosh trucks fitted with 350+hp Detriot 2 stroke screamers.

I'm not sure my customers would want that on their fields for one minute!

But you're right, lots of useful chunky bits there.
I wasn't thinking of it being suitable in its current format! If you cut all its surplus steel away, shortened it untill the axles almost touch then fit a body, you would be left with a powerful enough and light enough machine that didn't scuff on turns and had a lot of rubber on the ground.

Or just build the engine, autobox and axles into something new :)

Oh, ok. I don’t know anything about them. Could be more but it’s only 17 gross.

Certainly wouldn’t want a Detroit screaming away at me. Been there, soon had enough of that!

I think the Oshkosh has a 400 hp Cummins in it (y) not a Detroit , not sure you would like to sit in it for day though , but if time was not in short supply it would be a great project , at that price , fit something like class forage cab on it or something like that .
shame the engine is in the back (n)

Land Rover?
:finger::)No, even worse:eek:

Long days on one of these hand-start bad boys...

Or at least what was left of the day once you had worn yourself past the point exhaustion getting the bugger started on a cold morning.
