Saw this sold in German auction. Would it of been suitable to be a lime spreader if it had big wheels. What was its original use. Looks like the joskin truck thing.

Yes, I was certainly impressed. Kind of hoped I wouldn’t be, but I am!!!!

It is a Paccar Daf cab and engine, ZF auto gearbox, 2 speed transfer case and Tatra driveline thereafter. It looks a very innovative and strong design.

It is a beautifully smooth ride. Admittedly I didn’t get across any Land because everywhere is like a bog and I don’t have anywhere myself that I would be willing to make that sort of mess on! Maybe if we get down the road towards maybe buying one I can get a good go off road.

My main concern was tyre size. I gave Joe Millington the pics of the trucks above and Tatra came back to us saying I could fit absolutely whatever tyres I like, no restrictions and still warranted. Good answer.
Unfortunately, because of the driveline design, we can’t get bigger on the back than the front. But if I can squeeze the biggest set I can on the front and still steer the fronts wheels then I can put the same diameter but wider on the back to just wriggle in under 3 metres maximum width for an ag vehicle to tow a trailer.

As long as DVLA will allow the truck to be classed as an ag machine we could be in business. That shouldn’t be a problem as other trucks are allowed.

I know one thing for sure, if the millingtons can help then they will, been there yard yesterday and we got to the bottom of a fault with a truck that the main dealer had for 4 days with the same fault and couldn't sort (n) seems like every main dealer only wants to carry out warranty work now rather than keen the older stuff going!

Paccar build the ultimate trucks........the very best in the world, Peterbilt and Kenworth...........to turn all this discussion 180 degrees back to the start, get your local Paccar dealer to sell you your original choice, or maybe a slightly used one from a dealership........there are hundreds' to choose from at reasonable money.....equip it with four wheel drive.......wheels and body of choice..........or delete and fit your own,

As an aside, one of my farm tenants runs 7 semi trucks, all Volvo's, 53ft live bottom trailers permanently loaded..Alfalfa down to Roswell dairys.....pickup cotton seed back to dairys around Denver....load compost back here to base, he is finding it hard to keep these new trucks on the road, engine electronic issues/axles bending (made in China) so turned back to new Peterbilts. They cost more but with care are good for 2m miles plus.

Would look to be some decent ingredients in there be interesting to see how it goes

It sounds like another UK operator is very interested in trying one, I think he’s more interested in a 6 wheel unit.

If I try one it won’t be until next winter because lead times mean it’s at least July until I could get one delivered. With tyres, GPS and spreader body to fit there’s a fair bit to do. I don’t need that sort of work in July!!
