Importing a tractor from Holland.

Recently bought a 1965 Ford 2000 Vineyard from Holland.

I'll be going across with pick up and trailer to bring it back, about a 350 mile round trip plus it means I can combine it with a holiday with Vicki to Amsterdam.

What / if any VAT / import duties will I have to pay? I've done a quick search and seem to get conflicting answers? Anyone here done something similar?

I presume I won't have to pay an import tax with it been in in the EU.

Thanks, Joe

You need to supply the seller with your uk VAT number and they will not then charge you vat, other than that the ferry company may want a CMR,

In what way did you nearly get caught out?

I know Richard well who I'm dealing with, I've bought quite abit from him. I won't be handing over money until I've seen it etc. I'll be picking it up myself.

Check with HM Customs there is a declaration you have to do on import and you dont have very long to do it I know we nearly got caught out when we imported our Holder from Sweden. Also we had a faff with DVLA trying to get it registered for use on UK roads.

As long as you know the seller there is no issue. I was nearly sucked into classic e bay scam regarding a small tractor in Holland.
You will most certainly need to declare and pay the VAT if you are importing.
I think if you are not registered you can pay the VAT in Holland and import it free if the VAT is less there

At what point will Vicki wonder why you are taking a trailer with you on Holiday?
