Trimble GPS seems a lot cheaper in the states. What would be the implications of importing a system to the UK i.e. Would it work?

It’s all down to import tax and current exchange rate, you’d be no better off by the time you’d done it for the same reasons.

The basic gear will work anywhere. If there are radios involved make sure they’re 400-470 meg UHF. Any GPRS modems should be worldwide quad band now and LTE (4G) capable.

The consideration is import duty and VAT. The latter can be reclaimed, but not the former. The other consideration is warranty and support, depends on your expectations.

I think the xe rate is pretty fudged at the moment to tempt me. I did it on loads of gear pre Brexit, when the rates were more favourable.
