I watch most of your videos Roy but can't stand the Aussie accent ;-P

I like the idea of the tonic tea bags in water troughs too, beats the hell out of spraying fields!

Ive just read that one sounds a very good idea. Im suprised no one has tried that for minerals yet

I have tried those floating dispensers but pretty expensive for what they are.
I like the shadecloth idea for price though.

As far as minerals go, it doesn't matter where you input them as it is all a big cycle (for most of them)
Most of them are reasonably abundant but conveniently just out of root depth or locked up because the soil is out of whack.

It is astounding when you think just how much money, time and effort has gone into creating these problems :hilarious::hilarious:

What's their purpose?
Just introducing minerals - or, more accurately biological stuff, into the water.

As I have probably said inline dispenser systems work well for normal soluble minerals but some living cultures are killed by high pressure or regrow in the lines (seaweed powders and kefir in my experience were no good through the water system)
I have a dosatron but it is all gravity-driven from the roof to the troughs

Do you water cattle with filtered, bottled water that there's no minerals or biological stuff in it :scratchhead:

My well water has quite high calcium, decent sulfur too. The dugout and pond seems to grow a large assortment of biological doodads as well. A healthy riparian system should offer plenty of adequate water health. Loose minerals the rest if you're in an area deficient in something.

The only thing in my water trough that I put there are goldfish :ROFLMAO:

I make quite a bit of apple cider vinegar and I put a fair bit of that through the stock, as it only costs my spare time. (Plenty of roadside apple trees about so we'll generally stop and gather them up)
It seems to be a good tonic and being free I am fairly generous with it.
However my stockwater troughs are fed directly from the town supply system (tanks up on our hill) so I can't connect my dosatron in without some fuss being made, or I would likely dribble some seaweed and ACV in at that point for convenience.

Just got the lab results back from the 8 cattle I sent to be killed, and bloods were good for selenium iodine copper etc etc so I don't think too much is wrong with our current system.

what dosage of ACV did you use @Kiwi Pete - we tried some on our pet lambs a while back but they didnt go for it....i think we put a cap ful in a standard black bucket.

we're coming up to doing our second batch of weiging (just short of 100 days on the lambs) as it works out on the moves before they head out over some fairly leggy but 90+ day rested stuff for the next week or so.
