I usually just have two strands up which they just walk under. But recently I’ve been putting 2 lines up so a double strand and then a single strange on a separate run, thinking they would more chance of getting a shock. But I watched them today just walk straight through it. My fencer is a voss 5j which gives off a hell of a whack but the shocks are to slow and there’s to much of a delay between shocks. They have plenty of grass but they always want what’s the other side of my wire.... what’s the problem?

Was hoping to hit these rushes hard with small pens but they won’t stay in them 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

try 4 wires all the same post tho. definitely to start with they've got be trained to it, maybe will even need 5 wires. so they have to touch with their face/ nose /cant avoid that.

have you got a tester ? put it on the fence what does it say ? how many KV 's ? its the only way to actually know whats going on.

10 kv is v.good .

that bit bigger type wire from voss is good with the copper and stainless in it, good for training anyway.

this time of year and the moisty should be helping

Do you use dogs or a dog.... sometimes if they know a dog is around it stops them taking the mick.

I use the dog every morning to move. But they decide to get out mid day....

our hfrs out on kale, are getting really annoying, they wait till the fence is off, then through, buggers won't go near it, when its on. Trouble is, we have 2 lots, feeding off the kale, mains fencer pushing out a damn good crack, and spark ! Will have to fiddle the fence round, to shorten the time it's off, thought we had the culprit, housed her, obviously wrong. Did cause me to remember why we stopped growing kale, for winter feed, 40 yrs ago !!

the fence is showing 10,000volts , that's fine just touch it and youl see ;) even with your welly boots on ....More wires are the answer, wires that stop them putting theyre head through , get a head through and their away.
2 or 3 wires is not enough. Note that I've said it beforeo_O if you dont want to listen then that's fine also :sneaky:

Shoot them take them to market, buy some new ones and some of them will do just the same (y)

Been there done that over many, many years.

Happy days.

My shoot them comment was of course tongue in cheek.
But if you can find the ring leaders and remove them it does sort the problem, if it hasn't been going on for long enough for them all to become potential ring leaders.
