Vendor takes hfr back at sale price plus £1.50/day keep and costs of pre movement test and vet costs to pd the others OR 1/3 of sale price and you take your chances with it.

I sold one that ended up in calf and when I went to see the man about it he wouldn’t let me have it back at 1.50 a day plus costs plus purchase price as he knew it was worth more than all that with a calf!

Does anyone ever make £1.50/day out of keeping cattle? £547 increase in a year. There will be a hell of alot of bought store cattle dont achieve that.

Probably not so its a harsh lesson in making sure you dont sell store hfrs incalve
I sold 2 bulling heifers for breeding that turned out to be incalf.I bought them back, which i did not mind doing, but felt like shoving the £1.50/day +haulage +vet costs+mart commission down his throat. They both calved cracking Lim bull calves aswell, and they are still in the herd today. If i had bought them myself,i would have said ,"well thankyou very much, ive bought 2 incalvers instead of bullers"

depends how they were sold to you, was there a guaranty that they were not in calf ?
Never bought any stores with a guarantee.
Surely vendor should be upfront and say if there’s a chance they may be in calf.
If he didn’t know the bull had been near them he’s not a very good stockman.
