In furrow ploughing on 710s

Hi All

looking for some advice on putting 710 tyres in furrow.
Gregoire Besson plough hrpw7 I think!

should I be looking at furrow wideners or collapsing the furrow wall etc? Heavy land so will take a lot to fill the furrow after it’s been squashed with the wide tyre!
would normally plough on land but want the traction benefit of ploughing in furrow!

I plough with 710s but not with a Greg besson .

In light ground the 710s are fine but in wet heavier going , the biggest traction benefit imo will be from finding a set of 20.8s

We run 710's with a KV plough without furrow wideners. Generally plough at 16 inch furrows as well. Also run a tractor on 650's but these are taller so pulls it better than the 710's.

We plough with 710 Xeobibs with a Lemken on BS40 bodies set at 16”. No problems, just a massive footprint with the tyres all set at 14.5 psi which is the maximum pressure allowed by ‘the book’.
With 5 furrows the rear tyres are right on their weight limit at max pressure. With 6 (5+1) they are *way* over.

Do you still get the traction advantage of being in the furrow if the inside of the tyre is running on the broken furrow wall, the middle of the tyre is running on the bit that has been broken out and thrown into the furrow and the outside of the tyre is tramping the last furrow?

What about a nice set of 13.6s, 12" furrows and boards that don't move the soil too far and are easily pulled?

Most ploughs on the right mouldboards will work ok on 710s and 16" plus furrows. Speak to GB to find out if yours are suitable?

Have two besson ploughs with the furrow widner fitted. One on no5 boards, one on ta8 boards both match ok on 650 but wont with 710 I have a kv on no28s for that tractor. The gb no8 may work with 710s but give besson a ring thyre very helpfull.

@gorgous are the furrow widener's you've on your Gregoire Bessons genuine GB I cannot find any listed for sale. Or do the KV ones fit?

I plough, well not so much anymore, but used to with 710s on a KV with 28s boards, no problem at all unless it was too wet to be out there, and you slipping too much.

Or 18.4’s, 14” no8 😅

710 Xeobibs at 12psi when i was in NZ, i’m guessing the lighter weight of the plastic mouldboards let us get that low. Same tractor on MachX was always getting stuck, i went a whole season without needing a chain. Even in the same paddock. We could only put it down to tyres

Thank you for taking the time to take the pictures, I will see if I can get any joy from nearest GB dealer, if not think I will weld a KV one to the landslide in lieu of holes in the correct place!

I tried a set on the overum but found it increased slip on heavier ground as it had sliced the wall off into the furrow bottom
