In swath hay moisture meter

Is there such a thing that will test the moisture of hay in the swath ? I know you can get ones that will do it once it's baled but is there one for when it's just lying on the ground ?

Just get some out of the swath, wind it tight into a 'rope' so that it's solid and push your bale meter into that.

Uncle used to use a box of matches, if it would burn it was fit

I’ve was shown by a sheep farmer to grab a handful, wrap it in a knot and then hit it with a hammer on the weights on the tractor. If any sap is on the hammer head then it’s not fit to bale.
