Increased flooding due to development

Anyone know someone who has advice on the law and planning which includes the EA and IDB.
It concerns a large development going to be built on and near a flood plain ,with it’s only drainage into a river which floods our land and neighbours. It’s clear water will have to be discharged by the very nature of what this developement is ( not houses)but a holiday resort what is the law if it’s going to flood farm land when the river is already at high levels.Don’t say look at drainage plans because I can’t find any.Once again planning is passed without any consideration for drainage.

There will have to be a SuDS (Sustainable Drainage System) document included as part of the planning application, I'd start with that to see what they are proposing. It usually will involve attenuation ponds to hold back sudden flows of water due to precipitation and then release the water slowly over time. You should be able to find it on your local council's planning website. All documents regarding a planning application have to be listed there.

But you , I and Joe Soap knows that all these plans and proposals are a pipe dream which may if happen if you are very lucky. Then if they are built these attenuation ponds will be allowed to fill with water for wildlife , watersports, fishing etc. meanwhile you downriver will be told that the flooding is due to global warming and you can go and play with yourself
