I still genuinely can’t see how this will ever sell. It’s been in design how many years 7 ,8? So that 7 years with zero income coming into the project other than investment. Those investors will want their cash back pretty soon. Yes the owner my be very very wealthy but even wealthy people aren’t stupid so unless they have an order fully signed and a deposit paid upfront from the British army for 15,000, the French army for 20,000 etc… I just can’t see it selling. Utility companies procure vehicles at very very good prices and want them now not in perhaps another 2 years. Mitsubishi, Nissan and a few others have or are leaving the uk market place for utility vehicles but the world market is huge and I just can’t see how they will crack that. Will this ever be anything other than an odd looking play thing for the Uber rich to say they are cool? Bu haven’t the Uber rich all gone or are going electric now?
I saw Jim Radcliffe on TV talking about his £4,000,000,000 bid for Chelsea FC: " I don't need a football club to make money, I make plenty from petro-chemicals." I really wonder if he just built what he wants without a thought about making money, perhaps he would be happy to break even at best? At the beginning of covid he set up three factories to produce hand sanitizer to give to health authorities; he makes Euromillions winners look like paupers.

Exactly.

Too basic.
Too Expensive.
Too big diesel and Petrol engines.
No Hybrid or Self Charging.
Fuel all time expensive.
Interest rates going up.

Can’t help feeling from a farming point of view it looks to big, numb and heavy not to mention the price. Also it looks like we will be under recession when it is launched properly and by then the premium the new defender is currently receiving may have disappeared and with a normal Land Rover discount the new 110 will be a big threat. Who knows only time will tell but paying over the odds for a vehicle which is untested in terms of back up, reliability and support is for braver men than me.

Plus, the initial ork is now 7 or 8 years old, so getting outdated. They need to get on with it soon, or they will have to develop the MK2 before the MK1 gets sold.

Once upon a time there was just the Land Rover then there came the four wheel drive double cab pickup which did everything a Land Rover could do but it was cheaper and more comfortable there’s really no need for a new Land Rover
But there is already a new Land Rover , there’s an 18 month waiting list and second hand they are making 20% more than they cost new .

And that Bob is exactly why the Ineos will fail. …. Zero heritage. People like Clive won’t buy one to be cool. They will keep buying true landrover defenders. Mate has a defender 90 commercial. It’s so much better then my Amarok. Every town has a dealer for it. It will hold money and is cool.

That was going to be my reply except my Amarok is far better that any Land Rover I ever had but they don’t have the character of a Land Rover ( for Land Rover I mean proper Defender 90,110,or 130.)

I tend to agree. Even the army has abandoned such vehicles and utility companies have adopted the pickups as have farmers, probably never to return to dinosaurs like the Grenadier. I suspect that those that shouted loudest for it in recent years are not the type of people, on the whole, who can afford to buy a new one or to run it.

The thing is faults are usually what gives a vehicle its character and once you've lived without them for a while however boring it may be you don't wanna go back to living with them.

Don’t for one second miss the cold shower I got from our land rover’s drip tray that ran round the interior of the roof of the vehicle. Braked to stop on a wet day, you got soaked. :scratchhead:
