The Ineos Grenadier thread

The thing is faults are usually what gives a vehicle its character and once you've lived without them for a while however boring it may be you don't wanna go back to living with them.
True. We now laugh about how the doors wouldn't stay shut which wasn't so funny when my three year old son fell out or the asthmatic heaters which couldn't keep the windows clear let alone keep the driver warm or the gaps through which you could see daylight or the lack of leg or arm room. However I'd love another or something similar but they'd have to be priced to compensate for those faults not priced as the last Defenders were and still are because they are some kind of classic.

When Jim came up with Idea to manufacture the Grenadier was in 2017 by 2018 the team to design it was formed. Do you know they involved now with Hyundai motors on the development of hydrogen powered vehicles .

Munroe looks like a diy kit car not something that costs over £65000. Also the duck may be right about the Grenadier in that it never seems to be priced with vat itemised for some reason, if it is not reclaim able it will kill it stone dead for agriculture. I am not sure vans will be popular with stock farmers now everyone is on double cabs, my old Trooper had to be left overnight with a window cracked open or it smelt of wet dogs all the time, with a double cab, dogs, dead lambs and all the other smells are nicely kept out of the cab.

I really want a G Wagon , trouble is a 5 year old one costs as much as a new Defender . G Wagon is loads cooler though and will hold it’s money , don’t know about reliability as don’t know anyone who owns one .

They have updated their web site again and now claim that both two seater and five seater versions are certified as commercial vehicles. This is very good news indeed and very unusual for a five seater. Some compromises have been made to achieve this, the most obvious being that the five seater has blanked off rear side windows, although rear side doors appear as standard. They do hint that rear seat legroom is compromised in comparison to the ‘normal’ non-commercial fully glazed five seaters. I have registered for information for when pickup truck is announced.

The price of commercial variants looks to be far better value than its main rival, even when the Grenadier is specced up nicely. The PDF of my spec won’t upload but I can upload a screenshot

Note that I’ve specced a red painted chassis!
The price includes VAT.

I’ll be amazed if the 5 seater is fully VAT reclaimable? I thought the cargo space had to be bigger than the passenger space, or carry one ton?

I don't understand folk paying 50K+ for a 4x4 but speccing those hideous steel wheels.
Its a work vehicle expected to last more than five years, at which point alloys will start to look grim. Especially if they get bashed. Alloys are available though, of course, for probably the majority in the UK that will want them for the school run.
Face it though, this is not a ‘looker’ and you will never make a silk purse from a sow’s ear.

Yes, it is rather amazing that they can make that claim, but here it is...

Note that it specifically says “The standard five-seat Grenadier Station Wagon is certified as a commercial vehicle"

Below is the next higher spec of five seater and it is not a commercial and has more rear legroom.
All this is rather surprising and good news, which is why I posted about it. The payload is 750kgs by the way and not a ton, which is another surprise, although blind vans and single passenger row vans and pickups have never needed to carry that much.

Can’t argue with that! They must have had a legal team looking at some very small print to have pushed the boundaries that far, but credit to them. I’m not sure I agree with you that it’s better value than a defender though, mine was considerably less than that in D250 SE spec
