Did you lads have the type whereby you could tense the stomach muscles and shoot a big lump out into your purse, which could be manipulated back in by laying flat?
Mine was not painful really, but surgeon said risk was that one day it might not go back, and become strangulated.
'Twas a good party piece anyway.
didn't really have any control over it, sometimes there, sometimes not but it did disappear when lying down. as you say no pain or discomfort.

I had mine repaired last year, it was causing me terrible indigestion and had to take pills to control it. Had to get back to work 9days after the op as nobody wanted to milk but thankfully all was ok :) enjoy your rest Andy.

I’m lying in a Bristol hospital having had this done last night. Flipping sore right now.
Was that under a general then. Mine was a local and they sent me straight home. You will feel sore for a few days but paracetamol and ibuprofen help. I did nothing except lots of walking for 2 weeks then started driving in 3rd week. Back doing light work after 4 weeks and fully recovered after 6 weeks.

Sorry to drag up an old thread but I had this done 5 days ago now and annoyingly, there’s not much sign of improvement. The pain is enough when I stand up to make me pretty much fall straight down again. Much worse than a couple of days ago when I was at least able to walk pretty well. Reading the nhs stuff online I’ve come to the conclusion that either I’m a massive Jessie and need to man up, or something’s gone wrong. How long have other people literally been laid up for?

Although the wounds may be smaller now there is still a lot of cutting and pulling inside which might take 2 weeks to improve.
However, you should not be getting worse so I would have a chat with your GP/nurse to check for a wound infection.

My pain gradually wore of day by day. It didn't come back after a few days. Have you stopped pain relief to early. I started walking on day 3 then a bit more each day. Started driving week 3.

May have overdone it in day two and three, telling myself I was almost recovered. Fool. Upped the ibuprofen again this evening. Certainly can’t envisage driving for the foreseeable so it’s handy to know you took three weeks, I’ve heard too many tales today of heros going shearing and winning triathlons half an hour after they’ve finished the sewing bit. Macho I am not, but I am starting to fret big time about all the work that isn’t going to get done for a week or two.

I was told not to drive until I could press a brake with no pain so i didn't.
