has any one cures or something that helps

Wondering why you have it? Over active mind at night, planning the next day, stressed? Maybe restless legs? All of that sort of stuff.

I'm only saying this because someone else will: have you checked out the oooh! Thread?;)

Sorry, I appreciate it is a serious issue, the oh gets it for a while now and again.

Sleep is one of the rare things that the harder you try, the less successful you'll be.

What seems to work for me is just counting, not sheep or objects just counting slowly and using that to settle, relax and free my head of anything.

Another is one that sounds completely counter productive but is said to work is just keep your eyes open. Keep the room dark, pick a single point on the ceiling and just look at it. I've not tried it but my friend reckons it works

There's a breathing exercise that is said to help, I don't know if it does but it seems I fall asleep within an hour of doing it. First breathe out in a sigh to empty your lungs, then breathe in through your nose for 4 seconds, hold your breath for 7 seconds, then breathe out through your mouth for 8 seconds. Repeat until you get fed up.

A good quality lavender handcream might help, or other snoozy herbs. There was a foot cream which would have me asleep in minutes, a German one in a green tube, but can't seem to get it at the moment.
Don't just get a purple one that hs a picture of lavender on the outside, it needs to have proper lavender in it too.

Red light in the evening sets your brain for sleep. If your phone etc has a blue light filter try that.
Picture grass if counting doesn't work (I'm too mathematical for counting, I end up multiplying large figures instead.
Coffee in bed helps me sleep, if you ever see me on TFF past late morning over there, its because of lack of milk in the house.

I sometimes have problems getting sleep, what's working for me at the moment is thinking of an item for each letter of the alphabet. Fruit is the category at the moment! A is apple, B is banana etc. I don't seem to get past G......zzzzzzzzzzz

Agree with woolgatherer. Choose something fruit, veg, tractors or cattle breeds etc. and work your way through the alphabet trying to think of as many examples of the subject for each letter. If your mind wanders onto 'worries of the day' or whatever might be keeping you awake pull it back and concentrate on your alphabet. Works for me. Good luck.
