Installing a turbo on a John Deere 6520

Hi all,

I am considering installing a turbo on my 2002 JD 6520. My tractor is a 2 valve non-turbo with a mechanical injector pump.
I am just looking for some knowledge on which turbo to use.
What other parts would i need to change, Exhaust manifold?, ECU? etc.
Would a turbo work with the injector pump or is a common rail engine needed?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Perfect! Install the ex manifold, turbo, and intake plumming etc etc from a 66/6820 and have the pump opened up a tad. Days work.

TB Turbos have long gone. Went bust in late 2008.
Is anyone making turbo kits any longer?

Messrs Thomson and Breaks came down in persons to fit their kit on to my MF590, back in 1980 or 1981. I remember it as if it were yesterday. The kit was on a display board, including an injector pump to swap out. It had a little filter canister for the oil feed, which contained an element for a Morris 1000 I think.

Thanks for the replies, where is the best place to get an oil feed and return? Would parts from any 66/6820 work or would it have to also be pre 2003?

Probably need a tweak of the pump to go with your turbo , with all,the extra air getting forced in, need some more fuel to go with it to get the best out of it .
