Instruction Book…legal requirement?

I recently took delivery of a new piece of machinery and noticed there wasn’t an instruction book with it. I asked the dealer who duly reported back that the manufacturer hadn’t produced a manual for this particular machine.
the manufacturer is a well known name and firstly I am somewhat disappointed if this is the case, and secondly I wondered if it wasn’t a legal requirement to provide one.

I have this exact situation this week. Got in touch with the manufacturer to be told I should download it from their website. Which is fine, I guess, but felt there should really be a hard copy with the machine.

I was told that there isn’t one available full stop, hard copy or download.

What machine is it?

Everything comes with a manual, even wheelbarrows. If you don't have any luck with the dealer, email the manufacturer, they'll generally email out owners manuals on request if you ask nicely.

It’s a 6m folding crimper roller. Stickers on the machine state to read manual before use. Hoping to catch up with the manufacturer at a forthcoming ag show.

Agree. Fairly certain the OP should direct the salesman to The Machinery Directive and whatever the U.K. equivalent is since Brexit.
Looks like Supply of Machinery Regs replaces former enactment of Machinery Directive. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/supply-of-machinery-safety-regulations-2008

States that the manufacturer or their representative needs to supply sufficient information to operate the machinery safely. Not explicitly in the form of a manual, but that would be easy and unambiguous.

Although it does say it doesn't apply to ag tractors. They appear to be covered by a different EC directive, but I ran out of Google motivation before I tracked down the UK equivalent.

I got to section (annex?) 1.7 and decided it should be some sort of paperwork.

Thanks for all of your replies. I don’t want to name the manufacturer publicly yet, hopefully I will have a nice chat with them tomorrow and it will be sorted. I suspect that it is indeed the dealer not chasing on my behalf.
