Insulating workshop

Really fed up with our workshop which has a constantly dripping roof. It has a box profile roof on a mono pitch and we constantly have condensation coming off the purlins. I've been given a lathe and feel that we need to sort the condensation issue before we can install it.

We have a stock of Rockwool from the house and propose fixing battens to the roof and boarding with ply to support the insulation.

Any advice?

Make sure that you have airflow above the insulation or it will sweat. Ideally you need a false ceiling type of idea. Rockwool won’t be as easy as kingspan type sheets but nothing’s impossible!!!

I would use seconds rigid board, what purlins, 100mm? We used 75mm board with ply sheets and worked well.

Rockwool gets heavy when wet then never dries

But some armoured insulation above the lathe or you will be constantly going for the step ladder to retrieve the chuck key from the ceiling

Had cages round the lathes at school, and they didn't half used to clang when key hit them.

Insulation board under the purlins then held up with T bar. Thats how they do it in industrial units without composite panels.
