Insurance quote shock

I am looking at buying a diesel focus as a run around for £1000.. the reason why it's so expensive is the owner had to spend a lot to pass mot ,new brakes and tyres
But that's not what I want to say really.... I was very shocked to receive an insurance quote for nearly 3/4 cost of car

Without more details its hard to comment - is it much more than you have paid previously? No claims, change of postcode etc etc - it may be expensive or cheap!

Not actually shocking at all actually. Young un’s will be getting quotes of 5 times that or more for the same bargain bin $hitbox.

I no a lad who got quoted 3000 for a old Bora be lucky if the car was worth 500

Expensive insurance is often down to the driver, rather than the vehicle....

£1000 for a vehicle with new wearing parts such as tyres and brakes and 12 months MOT shouldn't be considered expensive if it starts and runs everytime -

Not nowadays when I was 17 9 year ago you could get a good car with 12month mot for £500 easy

now anything for less than a grand is a waste of time..: there’s plenty cars with absolutely nothing wrong with them getting broken for parts nowadays as it’s big business. The rusty rough old things that are destined for the crusher in the near future is what you get for a grand now

Yes, I believe some live in an alternate reality. Anyway, the insurance that Pierce Brosnan had to pay before that time he drove a T55 around St Petersburg.. That truly was shocking..

Maybe look for insurance rates for a van for a runabout, rather than a car...

We spend under 3 p per mile on insurance any named driver (Under 6 points) over 25.

So it seems you are a high risk living in a high risk area with all the thefts you’ve suffered and a very poor police response I wouldn’t want to insure you

Mate of mine told the insurance company he had passed his HGV test expecting a rebate.

They put the premium up as he was "more likely to have an accident as he was driving more"
