Indeed. Was talking to a chap the other day who should know and he says a hell of a lot of turbines are switched off as the grid between Scotland and the south or England just can't cope with the power produced. Apparently a new pipe in the Irish sea will transform the situation in a few years. I also heard that Scotland did 24 hours purely on wind the other day. Whether that is true I don't know but all these little milestones mean something.

There was an article at the start of summer stating turbines in Scotland would have partial shutdown due to over production. This is due to less electrical usage during summer (not that we've had much lol) and higher usage outside of summer.

An 80Ah battery, so a small tractor battery holds about 1kWh, or 4p worth of electricity. I'm not a naysayer for battery storage, but I think this puts it into perspective...
