Interesting video on diagnostic software

R.M.I ( Repair and maintenance information) dictates , as with cars for years now, that manufacturers must make RMI available to anyone at the same cost as it is for the main dealers .
There can be no financial discrimination against the open market or in favour of the main dealer , any violation of this incurs a fine of a percentage of the parent company's global turnover PER VIOLATION.

Access to the manufacturers diagnostic tooling ,under the same legislation, however has been withheld for now pending further investigation into the potential safety implications of untrained persons having access to diagnostic menu's where parameters and protocols built into the machines softwares designed to,protect the end user can be altered , changed or switched off.

I suppose it's the same cost bit that's the problem. I am never going to shell out £8k for a bit of software to needed to recalibrate the clutch on my 20 series.

I imported my service advisor software/edl from an eastern block country:whistle: as it’s not really available in the uk!
Been using the same company for a number of years now and get good support, backup and updates from them. Would be lost on most electrical issues with out it.
I was about to say unless you chat with the nice Ukrainian or Russian on the net where they’ll happily sell you Fendias to go with your AGCO CAN diagnostic adapter. ;) In exchange for some USD of course.

... or just buy a Texa unit here

Don’t know if it’s a clone or not but I use this

As far as I can tell it’s exactly the same as the one I use to use when I was at the jd dealers. There’s only few jobs you actually need to connect to a machine for though so doesn’t get a lot of use compared to the diagnostics.

There's a chap down the New Forest who is a wizard at rewriting the software on ag machines.
As I have said before there is nothing to stop these manufacturers / dealers writing in a ficticional fault that may appear in several thousand hours time, then quote £thousands to cure it. It happens with washing machines.

One big advance over the last few years is the availability of ‘electronic parts catalogues’ (EPC) online. They’re meant for ordering parts (duh!) but give farmers 1000’s of exploded diagrams, which essentially turns a pile of parts into a giant Airfix kit.
Takes a bit of finding and bodging, but i’ve used both NH and Case and it’s helped no end. It also allows cross checking on parts, so you can shop around with either the specification or the part number.
Also bought the complete workshop manuals on CD rom for each of my NH tractors from a bloke on EBay, for about a tenner each (y)
Priceless!
