Good film, and potentially a good income stream for the right farmers.
Interesting about France, but I can't see our five minute polititions giving a monkeys.
Same as the food situation, NHS spending £20 billion a year on diabetese and obesity, yet they have Kellogs and Coca cola on their diet advisory panels. If they put a few billion towards subsidising real food, and taxing sugary processed crap it would make more sense.
All parts of the same circle really.

It is extraordinary how difficult it is for people to take on board this simple message. There's too much carbon in the atmosphere (principally in the form of CO2) and not enough in the soil (humus). Getting in there and keeping it there is relatively simple and cheap and has long term benefits for farmers and everyone else. And yet the politicians focus on expensive and unproven high-tech solutions like carbon-capture systems at power-stations.
Well done the French for promoting the 0.4% solution at the Paris talks. I'm nervous of any scheme which will 'pay' us for locking up C in the soil, seeing what a hogs-nest those in charge of the subsidy system make of every agricultural scheme; instead it would be better if we can demonstrate that farming in a carbon accumulating way is more profitable and far more sustainable. And fun. This may be something we focus on at the Groundswell Show...

Incentivising farmers is way to get them onboard, ELS, HLS etc. Being paid to farm in an environmentally friendly fashion may affect change in the short term.
I'm a paid up member of the DD theme but I realise there are challenges which is why I've gone into this with my eyes open. Sections like this and the forum in general are great sources of information. Especially when they lead to no-till shows!
