International 1056xl tyre sizes

i got an early 1056 xl 1982 and at the moment its on 12.4 28 and 16.9 38 was this the standard fitment or should it have 16.4 28 and 18.4 38 ? the specs books say both sizes but was the later for the case ih tractors ? also was looking at speeding it up what would be the biggest tyre combination i could fit ? what are others running many thanks

12.4 R28 and 16.9 R38 was size that was fitted to my early special edition 956XL as standard so I would have thought that was correct, if you are going 18.4 on the rears I think you need 14.9 R28 on the front, actually it might be 13.6 R28 local tyre firm should be able to tell you what you need to match the rears

thanks for that information i think the int 956xl did come out with smaller tires than the 1056 originally acording to what i can find also found this web site http://konedata.net/Traktorit/ih956xl.htm and http://konedata.net/Traktorit/caseih956.htm listing tyre options as ;

int 956xl 13.6R28 16.9R38
int 1056xl 13.5R28 18.4R38

why no change in front tyre size wud in not cause windup ? or it it typo in specs ?

case 956xl 12.4R28 16.9R38
case 1056xl 13.6R28 18.4R38

just want to make sure i keep the ratio between the tyres correct.

Both the 1055 and 1056 I've spent many a happy hour on back in the day were 12.4 R28 and 16.9 R38 as standard.
