Hi all
Any ideas? I've lost my brakes on the old girl, my foot goes right to the floor and makes no difference if I pump the pedal. Would this be the master cylinders or is it likely to be the pistons in the back end. I can't see any leaking from the pipes, I'm assuming the brakes run off the back end oil as I can't see a Reservoir to top up. Anyone had this trouble? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I would try bleeding the brakes as a start, if that doesn't work, it could be master cylinder seals or the seals in the internal brake cylinders (involves taking the trumpet housing off, do this on a trolley jack, two man job, one to steady the trumpet housing as you take it off, could be a mini crane is easier).

There is a reservoir to be found if you take off the battery cover. It is a self filling set up and apparently it is possible for an internal tube to drop inside the res and allow air into the system. It could be internal leak in the master cylinder/balancing valve but probably more likely to be the piston seals in the back end. I had this problem with a Case IH 895 and had to have the brakes resealed.

The 74 series (inc the 475) don't have a reservoir. Clamp the return line and bleed the brakes in the first instance.
