Hi all have a problem with my International 584 first problem was it run out of fuel on me and they are a bugger to bleed so I needed to get it back to the yard to take chain harrow off to have room to get to the fuel pipe in order to bleed it properly well this is wher the big problem has happend while driving forward the tractor was very slow wasn't moving much at all turned her around reversed her back turned her off took off the chain harrow now I wanted to mover her forward a bit to bleed her, put her into low 1st wouldn't go anywhere tried reving her up nothing when I pressed clutch in to put her into neutral she jumped forward went into neutral turned her off, now it wont go into forward high or low but it will go into reverse what is happening, wondering if the clutch has gone as 2 years ago every now and then I could smell burning but could never pinpoint where it was coming from. Cheers all

Sounds like it’s gone into both high and low at the same time and has locked the transmission.
Probably, you have gone from reverse to low too quickly and the low selector has gone too far forward and has come out of its slot. Need to get under with a bar and lever it back.

Should be easy to bleed. Fill tank, open bleed screw on filter head, crack an injector and it should bleed and start on the starter.

Thanks Andy I will have a look but you know the gear selectors the gear stick you pull it towards you and forward to select high well that won't move atall either

It’s been a while since any of mine did it.
what I suggest is that you chock the wheels, I guess there’s no point putting the handbrake on…
Try moving the 1234 lever between gears to unload the transmission and get under it. Get someone in the cab to move the range lever about, and you will see how it all works.

We had a 674 that used to do this- pick up 2 gears at once.
It never did with me, but whenever a newbie got in it, it was only a matter of time.

i'm told a useful fella can build up the worn bits with weld to get them slotting in neatly

A word of warning about lubing the linkage.
My 474 used to do this so I oiled it and made it 10 times worse!
Either I’m more careful nowadays, or more likely just slow with old age but it’s not done it for years.
