Horrible stuff to bale, hemp. I've baled hundreds of acres of it, right back to when you could first get a home office licence to grow it in 1992. It wraps on anything and wrecks bearings on machinery:(.
It's much more suited to dryer autumnal than we get.

What about some nice Hebridean wool for your clothing range instead...

Just so happens I know someone with a bag and another one on the way...

Hi I make and sell eco friendly products made purely from hemp. My interest in farming is I am looking for a bit of land to grow my own hemp. I am trying to make the world alittle but better Thank you for you reply
No, no, no. As a propper businesswoman you should get someone else to grow it and have all the hassle, you then buy it from them at under the cost of production. That's what everyone else does. ;)

Good luck.

Growing it is relatively easy, it's harvesting it where problems start..
It needs to be retted for the fibres to separate, which involves leaving the crop cut in the field for several weeks to get wet and dry in the weather, before being gathered up dry, which isn't always easy in November!
You may find it a lot easier on a small scale, where the crop could be moved off the ground for the final drying, but then there's still the processing to get the fibres away from the core.
Then the big hurdle: the licencing. You don't want to get caught growing unlicensed plants that are indistinguishable from the rather illegal variety!
Or there again, maybe you know someone who grows "medicinal" stuff and wants rid of the stalks!:ROFLMAO:

Hello,

I wanted to introduce myself. I guess I'm a bit late as I have already posted last year, but wondered if there were any farmers nearby (Lymington, Hants) that would be happy for me to fly my electric radio controlled model planes on their land, in exchange for bird scaring services :)
