If I had to send a radio signal it would be shorter to send it straight over the ice cap!
Farm finance is always a tricky one for a start, I dabbled in shares a wee bit which helped us get into livestock, not a pathway I'd recommend  but my 1100 Apple shares are looking pretty good (y)
Most all of "our" livestock are actually financed and owned by a livestock company here, PGG Wrightson.

UK and NZ farmers differ greatly in the respect of where we place our capital, eh @holwellcourtfarm :censored: which is sometimes brought up by the kiwis and aussies on the forum
No idea what you mean Pete

:sneaky:(y):D

Nope . Learning as i go you only make money mistakes once if you haven't got alot [emoji23] its not to bad just haven't had a system for long enough to work out costings
It really would be worth you doing a short course in small business finance management it'd you can find one, just a few evening classes or something. How P&L and balance sheets work, Cashflow planning, gross and net margins. It does make a difference.

Feck, when did I start getting clumped together with Pete :ROFLMAO:

Hello from Alberta @Crofter64 :)

Welcome aboard. (y)

You'll find quite a few folk on here a bit too "mainstream" for you but there are plenty who'll engage with you, @Blaithin and @Kiwi Pete for starters.

If you're feeling brave then try "off topic" as well
Thanks Blaithin and Kiwi Pete. I’m happy to have found this forum . As for “mainstream” farming- well that’s the world we live in isn’t it? we just have to carve out a little corner for ourselves in it.

New here and fairly new to farming, been looking about for a while but finally decided to sign up, born and inbreed on Saddleworth moor, finally managed to land myself a full time job in Essex after bouncing around doing harvest for about 5yrs, finally landed on my feet and been here 10 months (that’s a new high score), yet to figure out how I can be a full time combine, sprayer, harvester and drill man but seems to work so far.
I know a bit but can never know enough I’m 21 and have a lot to learn :)

Welcome to the madhouse.
Knowing you have a lot to learn is the best place to start, keep an open mind and listen to the experts, idiots (me) and the general observers and make your own mind up.
Just do not take it too seriously.

There's a fair bit of inbreeding going on over west of here too, just adds to the charm of the west coasters(y)
