Hi Darren.

You'll find folk on here are generally pottery fed up with people looking for metal detecting permission unless they are offering something useful in return.

Good luck though.

Hi guys: My name is Andy & I live in South Wales, originally trained as an Auto electrician many years back but went off into the mains side of things.
I've still kept my hand in over the years doing repairs for family and friends & still have all my Auto Electrical kit. Would be happy to help out if anyone has any problems.

There's a thread about three phase (in France) running on here somewhere, which seems to be baffling a few people.
As a professional, you'd probably be flabbergasted by some of the suggestions!

Hello All

I'm Dan.
I've just returned to working in farming after a 28 year gap; I now know that gap was far too big!

As a youngster, from the age of 9 (I remember clearly as it was 1976, the year of the drought) all I ever wanted to do was farm. So that's what I did. I left Grammar School at 16 to work on a farm and then on to Plumpton Agricultural College, East Sussex. From there I was asked to return to the farm I did my sandwich year in Essex on 1000 acre combinable arable farm. After that summer the senior tractor driver left, so at the ripe old age of 22 I found myself "top man", combine driver, sprayer, ploughman, and I loved it. But 18 months later my (now ex wife) persuaded me to pack it all in to do something different; and I've missed it every day for the last 28 years.

But now, I'm back working in farming (slight irony, it seems the driest year since 1976). And I'm loving it.

Would love to hear your farming stories.

Dan

Welcome aboard Dan. Be prepared for the "cut and thrust of debate" on here but there are some great Lads and Lasses on TFF (y)

If you feel brave then dip into "Off Topic".

If you're a mad masochist then you could even try the "Brexit Forums" where the online furnace awaits

Welcome aboard James.

Any photos of your welding work? That could raise some interest here. Post them in "Today at work" https://thefarmingforum.co.uk/index.php?threads/today-at-work.5275/ or "Farm Engineering" . There are plenty of Yorkshire folk on here who may be able to help.

Hello everyone, I have been on here for a while, quietly enjoying the great range of threads and I thought it was time to finally introduce myself. I am 29 years old and from NI. My grandad, uncle and cousin all farm and I love nothing more than spending time on their dairy farm in Co. Cork. I am an ecologist (for now) but spend too much time on TFF and making plans for when I can retire to a few acres in the country. Keep up the good work people.
