Hi,

I'm Daniel. I'm not a farmer, but I am a recovering Townie ;)

Currently developing a soil food web product and run a lab where we do soil food web assays down in Hampshire.

Some of you may have seen this chat: https://www.forwardfood.tech/articl...soil-with-dr-elaine-ingham-and-daniel-tyrkiel

Here to learn and help if I can.

Thank you
Welcome. So you are running one of the Elaine Ingham soil food Web labs then? You should post some details of how you got into it and what services you offer in the "Holistic farming" forum area.

Hi,
I'm Bart, grew up son of a farmer back in the Netherlands, but besides helping out decided my career was in another field. Now been living in the UK for about 16 years and my wife and I decided to buy a small farm to have our draught horses in the garden so to speak. Looking for something in Scotland.

Hi Bart,

welcome aboard one of the best farming forums on the internet. I hope that you have a good sense of humour and a kind heart, ya gona need em! ;)

Plenty for sale in Scotland, but it’s a big country so you’d best narrow your search a bit.

hi im james, i grew up on a small mixed farm near louth lincs, then pushed into agricultural engineering by my dad which was lucky as the farm became untenable by the 90s,spent the last 30 years as a land rover specialist ,operating from my small holding which we grow about an acre of spuds and mixed veg ,largely as an excuse to play with old tractors and machinery,we are looking at camping or converting some of the farm buildings as holiday lets as next projects

Welcome aboard the good ship TFF; plenty of good humour, farming banter, and supportive advice within these hallowed walls. Tread carefully and you may also stumble upon one or two tame townies here and there.

Stay safe, stay well, and above all enjoy your time here.

Welcome to TFF.

You'll find farming exciting, frustrating and satisfying in equal measure. Just being out the in countryside can be a huge release during the current pandemic.

Good morning Kaygella,

welcome aboard TFF, possibly the world's best farming forum. Well, not just a forum but a giant think tank, advisory board, and steam pressure release chamber. All will be looking forward to reading more about your progress into the field of agriculture; if you will pardon the pun! :)

Stay safe, stay well, and above all remember that we are 'all' in this together; in one way or another.

absolutely…. It’s my haven after being in full ppe 🤣

Don't forget that you may still need to be kitted out in PPE for handling some agricultural materials. I knew a lady who developed cancer, possibly due to years of exposure to sheep dip and many of my colleagues who worked on Paraquat production plants developed skin cancer and I still have to undergo skin checks, on a regular basis.

Hello all, I thought it polite to introduce myself as I just joined the forum. At the risk of being booed offstage I am not a farmer; I am a metal detectorist (with a difference). I am 51, live with my partner in Brampton, 1 child, 2 cats, 1 allotment. Hope you are all keeping well and staying safe.

Thank you for introducing yourself first. Most seem to jump in with asking for detecting permission....
