Introduce Yourself

Hey All,

Thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Katy, from Cumbria... new to the Farming industry and heard this was a great place to learn and also to make some buddies!!

Although I've lived like a rural tom boy for many years, I've recently started a new job in the agriculture/forestry/construction side of life and suddenly feel I should know way more than I do (y)

If you see me post... feel free to give me any advice or opinions, and don't be shocked if I ask real stupid questions, until I get my bearings :ROFLMAO:

Evening all. Thought I’d pop in and say hello. I’ve been on our small family farm (arable) for getting on for 25 years now and I’m starting to get a little ground down by the usual suspects (lack of succession planning, lack of input, long hours and associated deterioration in health...oh and money or lack of it :D ) so thought I’d have a poke around here and see if I can regain a little enthusiasm.
Looking forward to joining in. Feynman :)
Welcome to the forum and i love your avatar, Richard Feynman his a hero of mine, i spend far to much time trying to understand quantum physics .:)

Thanks. I've been fascinated by the subject ever since watching a documentary by Michio Kaku on string theory when I was still at school which led to trying to get my head around Young's double slit experiment, wave particle duality etc and once you get down that rather impressive rabbit hole Richard Feynman is the man so to speak. Nice to meet a fellow afficianado :)

Hi everyone. My name is Craig, I'm 29 years old and I'm not a farmer but a mathematical biologist researching the spread of TB. It's currently in early research phase but I'm looking for kind people who are concerned about testing TB positive in their livestock to take part in the project. Please message me if you have any extra questions or if you want to take part.

My name is Arno. 26 years old I am dutch worked at large dairy farms in the Netherlands and Germay. I am self employed, my last project was the start up of a 400 cow farm in the Netherlands that has been empty for some months. Unfortunately was the farm forced to stop in November 2018 due to the Dutch phosfate quota system ( the farmer toke a big risk starting this farm).
I am interested in cows, herd management, nutrition, fertility, cow health, hoof trimming and so on.

Hi Everyone,

I'm Alex. 22 and been the odd help on my grandfather's farm. I'm part of a university project that wants to understand the UK public's perceptions of various birds. We'd really love to hear from the national farming community. Apologies if this is perceived as spam - we would really appreciate your answers!

The questionnaire only takes 5 mins - bit.ly/BirdSurvey18

Thank you for having me and have a good evening!

Hi Everyone, I thought I should join and introduce myself. I have been standing in the corner eavesdropping for a couple of weeks and that didn't seem quite fair. I have some sheep of indeterminate lineage (mostly DorsetX), a Highland x Jersey cow I milk and a Feed Store that I run to actually pay some bills. We've got some beef cattle as well, but they are on a ranch a ways away so I don't think about them every day. I find this forum much more useful and entertaining than any American ones I have found. Thanks for having me.

Thanks Buffy. I think everywhere may sound more interesting until you live there. Then it's just where you live. It is pretty here though.
