Hi folks, my names Jock, I'm a first generation crofter that also works 9-5, Caithness born and bred, been at it 10years now, have gradually expanded up to 150 ewes and 10 cows, I'm on both a tenancy and annual rented agreements. Really interested in improving profitability by growing better grass and efficiently utilising it, also really interested in new breeds/genetics and trying to keep the job easy. Looking to expand if the right opportunity comes along...... fingers crossed. Cheers

If you're touting for work you should clear it first with @Clive or @Chris F but afterwards you should post in the workshop consumables thread.

Hi. I would like to introduce myself to the Farming Forum. I have been in farming all my life, and have set up a few businesses over the years outside of farming. But farming has always been my passion. I set up a my farm contracting company over twenty five years ago which grew into quite a successful enterprise. It caught the eye of a larger corporate farming business and they approached us to see if we would sell. We put this to our children, but as they were not keen to take the contracting business on, they agreed with us to sell it. This was one of the most difficult decisions my wife and I have had to make. To see all the staff move on and all the kit go out of the farm gate was hard. But that was six years ago now, and we feel it was the best decision. Now I am busy helping out fellow farmers and farming companies and I love it. Still getting my farming fix!

Hello everybody, hope you are all well. Just thought I would say hi and introduce myself. I am a poultry farmer, broiler to be exact on a new 200k bird site in the midlands. Have been working with poultry for the past 3 years but my background with animals dates back 15 or so years, including teaching animal welfare. Have a good day!!

Hello All
I'm Alex, I'm 29 and have spent most of my life in Asia so far, originally from the North East. Father recently passed away which has pushed me to not waste anymore time and follow my dream, I am planning on returning to the UK next year.
I've spent most of my life so far saving up for this and am ready to just go for it, I have just started looking around to buy a few acres and start a specialty poultry farm, wife wants something with a dwelling on site or permission for one.
